The Rocky Mountain Branch of Clan Donnachaidh currently includes members covering Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and New Mexico.  The mission of our branch is to promote and support the history, heritage, traditions and sentiments of the Clan Donnachaidh in Scotland and elsewhere in the world.  We follow the memorandum of the Clan Donnachaidh Society and our membership is open to any person interested in Scottish history and particularly espouses to those persons who by birth, marriage, or adoption bear the names of Duncan, Reid and Robertson and the names of other accepted septs of the Clan Donnachaidh.  We do our best to have fun and enjoy getting to know each other as members.

Our officers are elected at our Annual General Meetings and typically serve a two year term.  Any member may attend our meetings which are held every other month and participate as council members. For support of our clan financial obligations and special expenses we have promotional items for sale including crest pub glasses, shirts, and throughout the year we hold fund raising activities which include drawings of a variety of donated, clan or Scottish related items.  These funds pay for festival fees, gathering goodies, and support our Memorial Gift Fund.  We also try to support our clan members that have their own businesses rather it be crafts, art, computer, and a variety of other offerings.

It is our responsibility as members to participate, provide and support a variety of activities within our communities that are clan related throughout the year.  Some of these activities and gatherings include our annual Robert Burns Dinner, annual Ice Cream Social/Picnic, annual General Meeting, annual participation in festivals such as Celtic Music Festival in Wyo, Colorado Scottish Festival and Highland Games, Highland’s Ranch, CO and the Long’s Peak Scottish-Irish Festival in Estes Park, CO.  At these festival’s we set up a booth that our members volunteer to answer questions, share history and stories with old and new members, march in parades, participate in piping contest and get to know other clan participating.  Members try to visit additional festival throughout the region.  For the Laddies, it’s any opportunity to wear their kilts.  For the Lassies, we love the opportunity to look at the men wearing their kilts.  We also enjoy sharing a “wee gram” or two.

Please take a look at our variety of pages on our website and some of our favorite links.  Sign our guest book and please contact us with questions.

Warmly,
Nancy Bigley, President
